THE HUMANS @ MOUNTAIN PAWS

Hello and thanks for checking out Mountain Paws! I'm Tasha. I've had a lifelong love & passion for dogs and the outdoors. In 1998, I noticed that there was a lot missing in the dog care service industry in Vancouver; quality, small group dog walks, and customized, small group, in-home boarding that offered a high level of professionalism. With this knowledge I combined my two passions and made a career for myself. 22 years and 3 successful dog care businesses later we moved across the Province and settled in Rossland, BC where I started Mountain Paws. We now reside in Castlegar, BC but still serve Rossland and Trail.

I intrinsically love caring and advocating for dogs and have years of invaluable hands on experience working with dogs. I have Dog First Aid certificates, training certificates & experience, behavioral studies, diet courses and back country travel & guiding experience as well as a diploma in Outdoor Recreation Management, Also having Wilderness Rescue & Occupational First Aid Level 3 has taught me to operate my businesses in a *safety first* manner. Respecting the environment as well as other trail users are also important factors in running my business with integrity!

THE DOG LOVIN' DREAM TEAM

to work on an animal sanctuary in Asia. My love for animals run deep, but elephants, dogs and horses are my favorite, and to live amongst them while helping better their lives would be another dream come true. I am incredibly excited to be working with the Mountain Paws Team!

Meet LAINEY; A loving, patient dog aunty & pack leader extraordinaire!  She was born and raised on a farm in Beausejour, outside of Winnipeg. For 19 years she care for and tended to  cows, horses, dogs and cats. Her love for animals naturally bloomed. Lainey has a particular fondness for ‘human’s best friend’, is an outgoing and responsible young lady who is a natural fit for Mountain Paws! Living in Rossland for the last 6 years she adopted an even more active lifestyle and has been walking friend’s dogs as well as volunteering at the BCSPCA. Hi, I'm TRACEY, and I'm excited to be joining the Mountain Paws team!! I met Tasha a few years ago, while hiking with my dog, and was impressed by the way she managed the dogs in her care.   I began thinking then how fortunate she was to be making her living doing this. Fast forward a few years, and now I get to combine my love for dogs with my love of being outside. And it's a bonus working with Tasha, and her amazing team. I have loved, owned and trained dogs all of my life, mostly my own German Shepherds, and sometimes for other people.

My background includes working with children, especially preschoolers with various challenges, which taught me to make learning fun.   The same principles apply to training dogs, cats, and horses, etc. (Even cows!) Envision the behavior you desire, position yourself and the dog for success, always end on a positive note, try to catch them doing the right thing, and praise them for it!  I look forward to meeting all of our clients and working with their furry best friends.  Blessings, Tracey.

BLAIR:  I'm very excited to join the awesome team at Mountain Paws. I grew up in Nelson and after a dozen or so years away, I returned to the Kootenays and purchased a home in Warfield 7 years ago. I've been in the hospitality industry for the last 25 years and in that time, I've thoroughly enjoyed having dogs and dog sitting for friends and family. My most recent canine companion was a Siberan Husky that lived to over 14 years. I loved the challenge of getting him enough exercise and mental stimulation every day. We live in such a perfect area for outdoor doggie activities and I'm super stoked to expose our furry friends to safe and healthy adventures in the beautiful West Kootenays.

JAIME: A life long lover of dogs and a mother of two beautiful children, Jaime moved her young family from Ontario to the Kootenays 9 years ago for a change of pace and to be closer to nature. With tons of personal experience with her own fur babies, she always dreamed of a career working with doggos. Following a 20 year career in human services and raising her children, Jaime is ready to follow her dreams of working with our K9 friends and is beyond excited for this opportunity!
